Coffee can reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus – Study
Over the past year, all kinds of studies and hypotheses have been carried out to find a formula to reduce the chances of infection by coronavirus. One of the most recent has been published by researchers at Northwestern University,in the United States.
This study decided to analyze and investigate several foods that would strengthen our defenses against the coronavirus. Finally, the result showed that drinking at least two or three cups of coffee a day lowers the risk of catching coronavirus by about a tenth.
The study analyzed a total of 40,000 adults to draw conclusions
The journal Nutrients has been commissioned to publish this study, and specifies that “nutritional status influences immunity, but its specific association with susceptibility to Covid-19 remains unclear.” The researchers analyzed the records of 40,000 adultsand looked at dietary reference factors.
The study says that coffee improves our defenses against the coronavirus.
“Logistic regression estimated the probabilities of Covid-19 positivity by adjusting dietary status for sociodemographic reference factors, medical history and other lifestyle factors,” says one of the study’s conclusions.
Coffee contains substances that favours our body’s defense system
The study corroborated that coffee contains some plant chemicals that improve health and can speed up the immune system, so drinking it would give extra protection against Covid-19. In addition, the experts also analyzed tea and fruit, although they did not have a significant effect.
“Although these findings warrant independent confirmation, adherence to certain dietary behaviors may be an additional tool to existing Covid-19 protection guidelines to limit the spread of this virus,” the recently published study says.
