Twitter users say the service is down as they reported issues with the social media website.

According to DownDetector’s Twitter outage map major problems were being experienced across the US, with more than 53,000 complaints at 2.45pm PT.

Users in Los Angeles, Dallas, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, New York and San Francisco were among those seeing issues.

“Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing—we’re going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon,” Twitter reads on its own blog.

The outage comes just a day after the social media giant received heavy criticism from Donald Trump for slowing down the spread of the controversial Hunter Biden emails story.

Earlier this summer Twitter suffered a major hack of high-profile, including Kanye West, Jeff Bezos, Apple, Elon Musk and Joe Biden.

The hack, which took place on July 15, targeted 130 accounts.

There was no immediate comment made by the company on their social media accounts.

Twitter has now posted that the outage is under investigation.

“Investigating Irregularity with Twitter APIs,” the company wrote on its Twitter status page.

We know people are having trouble Tweeting and using Twitter. We’re working to fix this issue as quickly as possible,” said a Twitter spokesman said.
