
Updated: Nigeria Confirms 156 New COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths
Nigeria has confirmed 156 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Friday even as the number of persons who have recovered from the pandemic in the country surpass 42,000.
While disclosing the latest COVID-19 data, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said the new cases take the number of infections in the West African nation to 54,743.
The new cases, the NCDC data showed, were reported from sixteen states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Nigeria’s commercial centre and one of the pandemic hotbed, Lagos, had the highest number of infections from the disease – 36 – for the day and is trailed by the FCT – 35, Oyo – 29 and Kaduna – 10.
Nine new persons were infected with the disease in Abia State, Osun-5, Ogun-5, Enugu-5, Rivers-4, Nasarawa-3, Ekiti-3, Imo-3, Edo-2, Kwara-2, Katsina-2, Plateau-2, Niger-1
While 1,051 persons have died from COVID-19 complications, 42,816 cases have been treated and discharged.
