NECO, BECE Announces commencement date for SS3, JSS3 students exam
The announcement was made by the NECO registrar/chief executive officer, Professor Godswill Obioma
Prof. Obioma said the NECO SS3 exam will end on November 18, 2020 The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that its 2020 examinations for Senior Secondary three (SS3) students will commence on October 5.
He said that the NECO senior secondary certificate examinations (SSCE) will end on November 18, 2020. The registrar also disclosed that the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) for JSS 3 students, also conducted by NECO, will start on August 24 and end of September 4 and no longer September 7 as earlier announced.
He further said NECO NCEE for admission of JSS1 students into federal unity colleges will hold on Saturday 17th October 2020.
The examination body stated that it has put in place special measures for the conduct of all its examinations this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
NECS noted that maintaining social distancing protocols by candidates and examination officials is compulsory.
Meanwhile, the resumption of students in graduating classes on Monday, August 10, after four months of COVID-19 lockdown was marked by a high turnout across the country as secondary schools reopened for return of classes.
In a report by The Nation, pupils and their teachers in both public and private schools in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital, complied with the COVID-19 safety protocols ahead of the commencement of the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
Mr Oluwatosin Ajayi, the headteacher of Ado-Ekiti Grammar School said about 205 pupils registered for WASSCE, while about 95 percent of the pupils had resumed.
In another report, Lagos and Ogun state governments have said that only students seating for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will resume back classes in August.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 28, Lagos state commissioner of education, Folasade Adefisayo, and the special adviser to the Ogun state governor on education, Ronke Soyombo, made this known while giving update on school resumption in their respective states.
The Ministry of Education, in a statement, said students would have two weeks to prepare for the WASSCE, the exit examination administered by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC). But in a contrary development, Lagos and Ogun governments said both state have not decided whether to reopen schools for students in the Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3).
